On Tuesday, May 14, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the allocation of these funds from the budget of the Ministry of Defense, the ministry said in a press release.
To enable the National Armed Forces to start using the real estate after taking possession of it, the allocated funds will be used to redesign the premises, as well as to rebuild the water supply, sewerage, heating, ventilation, internal electricity supply, fire detection, and alarm systems.
The decision, in line with the National Armed Forces' military infrastructure development plans, continues the development of the Home Guard battalions' infrastructure to develop military capabilities, including the ability to react quickly, prevent and localize potential threats as close as possible to their area of origin.
The 26th Infantry Battalion of the National Guard is responsible for the Madona and Gulbene districts.
The battalion's mission is to develop new and improve existing combat capabilities and skills of the battalion in order to ensure the fulfillment of defense tasks in the area under its responsibility, as well as to provide support to state, municipal and civilian institutions, if necessary.
