Latvian Border Guard receives buggies from US

The State Border Guard received 57 Polaris quadricycles (buggies) as a gift from the United States (US) on Wednesday, January 24, according to the Border Guard.

They will be used for monitoring the state border of Latvia-Russia and Latvia-Belarus, as well as for the special operations service of the Border Guard Aviation Board “SIGMA” to increase the mobility of border guards on the external state border. They will also be used by the State Border Guard College.

These vehicles were purchased as part of the U.S. government's 333 Building Capacity financial program. The collaboration has been going on since 2018, with 172 Polaris quadricycles, presence detection systems, drone kits, secure communication equipment, and night vision equipment of more than $11.8 million received over those years.
