'Iron Spear' tank drills taking place at Ādaži

From October 28 to 30, the "Iron Spear 2024" exercise organized by the NATO multinational brigade in Latvia is taking place at the Ādaži military ranges near Rīga ground with the aim of strengthening cooperation and developing tactical procedures between the tank and infantry fighting vehicle crews of the allied countries.

Within the framework of "Iron Spear 2024", a firing competition for tank and infantry fighting vehicle teams will be organized to determine the best crew among the nations represented in the brigade and the invited units of Lithuania, Estonia and Poland. The exercise is always keenly contested.

"Iron Spear" exercises have been taking place in Adaži since 2017 and have become a military tradition, giving soldiers the opportunity to share knowledge, tactics and equipment, as well as compete with each other for the title of the best crew.

Residents are advised that there is likely to be regular noise for the duration of the exercises as tanks going bang tend to be pretty loud. The footage below comes from the 2022 Iron Spear drills.
