From August 17 to 25, military exercises under the name "Simple Strike" will be held at the Ādaži military range and around Madona region to train and improve cooperation between Latvia and the United States in the field of close air support.

"The purpose of the training is to conduct individual training of close air support controllers and train the integration of air support maneuvers," said a release from the National Armed Forces.

Close air support controllers of the Ground Forces' Mechanized Infantry Brigade, the 26th Infantry Battalion of the National Guard and a U.S. Marine unit with "AH-1" and "UH-1" helicopters will take part in the exercise.

"Simple Strike" will take place in both day and night, with combat firing at the Ādaži training ranges during the dark hours of the day.
