4,000 Ukrainian children in Latvian education system

4,190 children of Ukrainian war refugees are learning in Latvia, Ministry of Education and Science told LETA May 23.

2,861 Ukrainian pupils study in general education schools, of whom 1,354 pupils learn in minority school programs and 1,501 pupils learn in the official language, six in a 'different category' school. 

1,329 Ukrainian pupils study in pre-primary education institutions, including 395 pupils in the minority program and 929 pupils in Latvian programs, and five in other categories.

Most, or 2,065, Ukrainian children in both pre-primary and general education age are learning in Rīga. Valmiera municipality is the second with 161 children, while the third is Ventspils with 160 children.
