The program envisages more than 40 events, including bird-watching hikes, birdcage workshops, educational classes, and other thematic activities, organizers said.
Interested parties who intend to participate in the events are invited to contact the organizers of the event in due time, as some of them have a limited number of participants.
The Latvian Ornithological Society also invites everyone to report bird observations on the dabasdati.lv website.
For those who are prepared not only to observe birds but also to report on what has been observed, this year special attention is being paid to the nests of white storks, as the 8th international survey of white stork nests takes place in Latvia this year. It is an event that takes place once a decade to track changes in the nesting population and nesting success of the white stork in Latvia, explaining the causes thereof, and tracking changes in nest location and foundation.
Ornithologist Ruslans Matrozis said: "Itis an opportunity to learn about birds from people who have knowledge, who are professionals who have run such Bird Days for many years. Usually, people come to both watch the birds and find out what they're interested in. Storks, for example. Any other species he knows that he wants to know. It's a great day. There will be lectures as well as various tours, walks, bird watching with a telescope, cage workshops."
