Take note – story published 1 year ago

On Tuesday morning, the Daugava water level near Daugavpils decreased to 7.46 meters above the station zero mark, thereby canceling the orange alert of potential floods announced on April 6, according to information on the website of Daugavpils municipality on April 11.

The maximum water level in the city area was reached on April 8, when it was 7.55 meters above the station's zero mark.

Within four days, the water has fallen by 9-10 centimeters and no longer reaches the orange alert level. According to specialist forecasts, water levels will no longer rise and water will continue to retreat in the coming days.

Currently, some gardens and basements have flooded in Daugavpils due to the rise in groundwater levels, but nobody has needed evacuation.

The city area has the yellow alert announced. This means that the population should be informed of potentially flood-prone areas.
