7,000 new Covid-19 cases Thursday in Latvia

On March 10, 2022, Latvia recorded 7,055 new cases of Covid-19, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of the newly-confirmed cases, 2,459 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 4,596 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 16,185 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 43.6% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population declined from 5,646 Wednesday to 5,433 Thursday. Since the beginning of the pandemic 726,868 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Sadly, 13 Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All victims were aged 50 years or older. Six of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,382.

Wednesday hospital data from the National Health Service show 1,077 patients being treated in hospitals (down on Tuesday's 1,161). 133 patients were admitted and 196 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 43 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
