As of Wednesday, July 14, Covid-19 patients will be treated in five major hospitals, the 'operational' commission directing medical services during the pandemic decided July 13.

According to the Ministry of Health, Covid-19 patients who need hospital treatment will be transported to Riga East Clinical University Hospital, Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, Liepāja Regional Hospital, Daugavpils Regional Hospital and Children's Clinical University Hospital. Women due to give birth who are tested Covid-positive will be placed in regional hospitals, Rīga Delivery Center or Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital.

At the same time, so-called transit departments or beds are set to remain in regional hospitals, and Covid-19 units in hospitals are expected to be restored within two days if an increase in Covid-19 patients occurs.

Until now, the treatment of Covid-19 patients took place at three clinical university hospitals in Riga and seven regional hospitals.
