Of the new cases, 453 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 388 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 265,806.
Of the 11,357 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 7.4% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population rose for a second day in a row from 505.1 Thursday to 511.4 Friday.

Unfortunately, 11 more Covid-related deaths were confirmed for a second day in a row. All of the fatalities were aged 40 years or over and two of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,430.
Thursday data show 523 patients being treated in hospital with 95 displaying serious symptoms.
December 16 saw 1,295 first vaccinations, 978 second vaccinations and 7,574 third booster vaccinations carried out in Latvia. So far 1,298,344 people have received at least one vaccination in Latvia according to National Health Service figures.
In Estonia the last 24 hours brought 603 cases and 5 deaths while in Lithuania there were 1,558 cases and 8 deaths.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
