She said that the number of NMPD calls is currently slightly higher than the average in the past. According to Cipule, the increased number of calls is not only associated with Covid-19 patients. She said there was a noticeable rebound from the autumn when chronic patients couldn't get to medical facilities in time, and there had been a lot of injuries and accidents recently.
Therefore, Cipule called on people to comply with the existing rules so that the morbidity curve flattens.
Cipule said new restrictions would certainly be needed if there were a very large number of patients in hospitals at the same time. Around 3% to 5% of those infected people go to hospitals. Given the high number of the infected, the number of people in hospitals would also increase.
Currently, around 300 medical workers also have a sick leave, of which 60 have Covid-19.
