Starting May 15, it will no longer be mandatory to wear masks in public transport, the Latvian government decided on Tuesday, May 10.

The changes have been adopted since the spread of Covid-19 has significantly reduced, and nearly all other epidemiological safety measures have been lifted already.

The Ministry of Health has no objections to this.

“This is one positive decision for the public. [..] We will be able to look into each other's faces again,“ said Defense Minister Artis Pabriks at the meeting of the government.

The requirement to wear masks at medical establishments and long-term social care establishments remains in force.
