Potential ruling parties say healthcare system should be changed

Take note – story published 5 years ago

On October 25 four out of six potential coalition parties in the 13th Saeima gathered to discuss the ongoing healthcare reform, reported LTV.

In particular, the Development/For!, as well as the Greens and Farmers Union, National Alliance and New Unity agreed that the healthcare system, which was recently changed to a model where non-emergency healthcare is available only to people who pay labor taxes, should be changed.

While the meeting did not produce specific proposals, the parties agreed that the current system is unjust.

Pointedly, three out of four parties present were part of the coalition when the cabinet came up with the oft-criticized healthcare reform, which according to official estimates may leave up to 30 to 40 thousand people uninsured as it's rolled in next year.

Representatives of the KPV LV and New Conservative Party were not present at the meeting.
