Seniors will get text reminder to vaccinate in coming weeks

Take note – story published 1 year ago

This week, a text message will be sent to senior residents inviting to vaccinate against Covid-19 and influenza, the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) reported October 13.

The first text messages are scheduled to be sent to older people and then other seniors aged 65 and over.

Texts will be sent to those who, according to the recommendations of the State Immunization Council (IVP), should be getting a shot now.Consequently, seniors who have recently recovered or vaccinated will not receive such a text message.

The recipients' phone numbers will be selected from different databases – “manavakcina.lv” and the national e-health systems where data is provided by medical authorities. The text message will indicate the Ministry of Health as the sender.

The sending of messages is informative and does not result in any records of vaccination. Regardless of whether a text message has been received, specialists are calling on seniors to apply for their family doctor's practice or vaccination office, said SPKC.
