Total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Latvia passes 450,000 mark Sunday

On February 6 Latvia recorded 7,234 new cases of Covid-19, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). Of that number, 2,898 were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 4,336 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 17,261 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 41.9% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population continued to rack up yet another record high, climbing from 5,920 Saturday to 6,051 Sunday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic 450,105 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Sadly, 6 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed on February 6. The youngest of the victims was aged 20 to 29 years, the other cases were all in people aged 70 or over. Two of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 4,951.

Sunday data from the National Health Service show 967 patients being treated in hospital (up from 905 Saturday), of whom 528 have the primary diagnosis Covid-19. 106 patients were admitted and 24 discharged during the last 24 hours. 72 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv
