The police have been investigating and do not yet provide more information.
Ilga Teivāne – Treinovska, representative of the State Police Latgale Region, told Latvian Radio that on June 7 at 20.00 information was received that a train had crashed into a child on a railway crossing in Rēzekne.
Police found a 15-year-old girl had been killed at the scene of the event.
Criminal proceedings have been launched, the police are investigating the circumstances.
