One injured in explosion in Skulte, Latvia

On Tuesday, June 13, an explosion occurred in a five-story residential house in Mārupe municipality Skulte, where one person was injured, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) said.

On Tuesday 09:38 in the morning VUGD was informed that an explosion had occurred on the fourth floor of a five-story residential house in Skulte. Firefighters surveyed the building and evacuated 23 people from it.

One person was injured and was given medical care.

No burning was detected. VUGD said that an unspecified device had exploded; meanwhile, the residents told Latvian Television it had been a moonshine distilling system. 

Local government construction expert is surveying the building, as well as Gaso, electricity distribution provider, medics, State and municipal police. 

One car was damaged as a result of the explosion.
