Don't forget to change the clocks next weekend

Summer time in Latvia will end on October 29 this year at 04.00 (the night from Saturday to Sunday),  so people will need to turn their clocks back by one hour, the Ministry of Economics is reminding the public.

Since at  European Union level, a common vision on new conditions regarding the change of time twice a year has not been reached, the previously approved procedure is still in effect – summer time in Latvia runs from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October.

Accordingly, the transition to summer time will take place again on March 31, 2024 when the clocks go forward again.

Daylight saving time was first introduced in Latvia in 1981, but it wasn't until 1997 that summer time was codified as being in effect from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October.

Enjoy your extra hour in bed.
