Marking the second anniversary of the illegitimate presidential elections in Belarus, Rīga's Belarusian diaspora hosts a march Tuesday, August 9, at 19:00 from the National Library to the Freedom Monument.

Ilva Everte, a representative of the Belarusian Refugee Initiative, said that since August 2020, dozens of Belarusian citizens have requested asylum in Latvia as the start of an unprecedented wave of violence in Belarus, suppressing peaceful protestors against the Alexander Lukashenko regime.

Everyone who supports the Belarusian fight for the right to dignity, freedom of expression, and the opportunity to choose their president in fair elections is invited to take part in the march.
