Emergency siren check throughout Latvia Tuesday morning

The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) has announced that on Tuesday, June 28, it will test its sirens and alarms between 10:00 and 10:20 in the morning.

There are 164 sirens installed throughout Latvia that can be heard within a 1.5-kilometer radius.

They will be switched on throughout the country in the morning between 10:00 and 10:20 for three minutes for a test run. Residents are asked not to worry.

The Ukrainian residents in the territory of Latvia will be sent an SMS with this information.

The alarms serve the purpose of warning residents about a nature or technogenic disaster in case one occurs.
