This summer, the Tourism Municipal police carried out inspections of the tourist guides operating in Rīga, the Rīga Municipality Police announced on Tuesday.

More than ten guides have been found to be violating the requirements for tourism guides in Rīga "called to justice", not specifying whether they've been fined, warned or both.

Most of them didn't wear the flag of Rīga and their tourist guide IDs where they could be easily seen, which constitutes a violation of Rīga's tourism regulations.

One of the guides had operated without a certificate handed out by the Riga Tourism Development Office, while in two cases foreign tourist guides had informed visitors about tourism objects in Rīga without a notification to the Riga Tourism Development Office.

You can find out whether your guide has received a certificate to work in Rīga at liveriga.com.
