Saturday at 13.00, the Russian-speaking community of Latvia is planning a protest against the war in Ukraine at the Freedom Monument.

The protest is organized by the “Russian Voices Against War” movement, which brings together representatives of the Russian-speaking community of Latvia, who strongly condemn Russian military aggression on Ukrainian territory and the brutal foreign policy of the Russian Federation, according to a statement of the organization.

At the beginning of the meeting, a minute of silence is planned for commemorating the victims of the Ukraine war, the hymns of Latvia and Ukraine will be played and other activities are expected.

The aim of the protest is to demonstrate that Russian-speaking people do not identify with the regime of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, they respect the sovereignty and culture of other countries, are able to integrate into Latvian society and do not accept violent policies under any pretext, the description says.
