LTV: Drone factory fire claims a life

Take note – story published 1 year ago

An employee of the "Edge Autonomy" drone factory, who was injured in the recent fire at the company's facility near Rīga, has died, according to unofficial information available to Latvian Television. The victim was not named.

Edge Autonomy's drone production building caught fire in Mārupe last week. A large number of fire crews battled the blaze for hours and local residents were warned not to inhale the resulting smoke.

Two victims of the fire were taken to the hospital, while one was treated on the spot.

The precise reasons for the fire are still being explained, though arson is not suspected and early indications are that the fire was caused by something related to the manufacturing process. The State Police has started criminal proceedings in connection with the incident, while the State Environmental Service reports that the company did not have a necessary polluting activity permit.
