Russia's navy ship Soobrazitelny, a Steregushchiy-class vessel that has been a familiar visitor to the waters near Latvia's maritime border in the Baltic Sea, was tracked Friday very close to the national territory, just over 5 kilometers away from the line by the National Armed Forces (NBS) coast guard patrol.
The NBS tweeted Friday of its most recent sighting of the Russian navy ship, which has been monitored several times during the past year near Latvian waters. The Soobrazitelny is a corvette, a type of warship designed to be smaller and faster than larger naval vessels like the frigate.
