Russian ships and sub watched by Latvian waters

Take note – story published 9 years ago

A cluster of Russian navy vessels came within 17 kilometers of Latvian sea borders in the Baltic Sea Friday, where they were monitored by National Armed Forces (NBS) coast guard patrol ships.

According to the NBS Twitter feed there were two Parchim-class anti-submarine corvettes (formerly used by East Germany's navy for coastal anti-sub warfare) and one submarine sighted and followed by Latvia's sea patrols inside of the country's neutral Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) waters and 9 nautical miles (17 kilometers) from its own maritime border.
