The State Revenue Service (VID) will sack 330 employees by year-end, said the service's director Ilze Cīrule on Latvian Radio. Together with a personnel cut starting in spring last year this amounts to sacking about 15% of the service's employees.
Last year the service laid off 220 employees.
Starting February the service's branches outside Rīga will switch to a three-day workweek with the employees doing administrative tasks on the days between.
Cīrule said the move comes as clients are starting to opt for phone consultations, emails and electronic declarations.
The working hours of the offices in Rīga will change too.
