On Thursday and Friday, it will sometimes rain, the air temperature at night will be within the range of 12 to 17 degrees Celsius, and in the afternoons from 19 to 24 degrees, though in Latgale it could reach 25 or 26 degrees.
Saturday will start with sunny weather, but in the afternoon the sky will cloud over in many places and it will start to rain, but it will still be warm - up to 28 C in some places and around 25 C in most.
Then a hot air mass from the Black Sea region will reach Latvia on Sunday, bringing very hot and humid conditions with it. A large part of Latgale and Vidzeme regions could see maximum temperatures in excess of 30 Celsius and in places as much as 33 degrees.
In contrast, Kurzeme region will experience a cool and cloudy Sunday with the air temperature not even reaching 20 C in some places.
The boundary between the hot and cool air will most likely be over Zemgale and the Gulf of Rīga, so even small changes in the movement of the hot air mass could significantly change the weather in Rīga on Sunday. The current forecast is more likely to be sweltering in the capital than cool, as well, but it's difficult to be sure about which side of the dividing line the capital will be.
The intense heat will prompt thunderstorms in many places, which could also bring damaging wind gusts, heavy rain and hailstones, so it is advisable to follow the weather forecasts closely over the weekend.
At the beginning of next week, the hot air mass will move to the north, the weather in Latvia will become colder, and more rain will likely arrive.
