From Thursday to Saturday, at night, temperatures in eastern parts of Latvia will be at -18 C to -15 C, while in most of the country, the minimum temperature will be -12 C to -7 C, slightly warmer in Kurzeme.
A significant temperature difference will also remain regionally during the days, with temperatures ranging around zero in western Kurzeme and -10 C in the eastern areas of Latgale and Vidzeme.
The latest forecasts show it will snow quite often in the days ahead as well, more in Kurzeme and central Latvia on Thursday, and Latgale on Friday.
In the second half of the week, the prevailing will be slow to moderate southeastern, southern winds.
Temperatures will rise a bit from Sunday, but the cold will persist.
