Summery weather to continue into next week in Latvia

Warm and summery weather in Latvia will continue not only over the weekend but also next week, according to forecasts.

Air temperatures will drop to 9-14 C at night, but warm up to 20-25 C during the day, with some cooler temperatures along the coast. The weekend will be mostly sunny, but some localized rain and thunderstorm clouds may form in places, with a higher chance in Kurzeme, Zemgale, and around Riga.

The weather throughout the next working week will also be summery and sunny, with a few rain and thunderstorm clouds forming each day. Maximum daytime temperatures will be +20 to +26 degrees, slightly cooler on the coast and cooling to +9 C to +16 C at night.

In the first half of this month, the average temperature in Latvia was 10.5 degrees, which is within the climatic norm*. As summer weather continues, average monthly temperatures will be well above the climatic norm.

This will be the warmest May since 2018, which was the hottest on record.

In the previous five years, May has been cool, often with frosts or rainy and cold days, with occasional snow.
