Spring weather to come to Latvia this week

Spring weather will come to Latvia in the second half of the week, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center forecasts.

There will be frequent rainfall during the week as the air gets warmer, and at the end of the week it could already be +10 C.

Monday will be cloudy and chilly still. The majority of the day will pass without precipitation, with little wet snow and snow expected in southwestern areas in the evening. During the night hours, the air temperature will be -1 to -6 C but for places in the eastern districts it could approach -14 C.

A thick blanket of clouds will cover the sky on Tuesday and Wednesday. Preciptiation is expected at times - with mainly wet snow expected on Tuesday and rainfall on Wednesday.

The minimum air temperature at night will be within -4 C to +1 C, while during the days between -1 C and +4 C.

As warmer air comes in, the weather will turn springlike in the second half of the week. Precipitation is occasionally expected throughout Latvia, mostly rain.

Both night and day air temperatures will be above zero, even reaching +10 C in some places.

Ice melting will continue in the coming days so water levels will rise and some rivers can flood.
