The roads will be snowy and slippery, and visibility will deteriorate. Due to weather conditions, driving can be particularly difficult, so “Latvian State Roads” (LVC) calls for an assessment of the necessity to drive, as well as planning additional time for trips.
Thursday, November 30 morning has a similar forecast, so LVC is calling for an assessment of the necessity of morning trips and a review of the time allotted to them.
Maintenance works are also carried out on public roads during snowfall, however, it should be assumed that the snow layer will recreate itself and the roads can get icy again after treatment with reagents.
State roads shall be cleaned in priority order according to maintenance classes, where the main criterion is traffic intensity. First, maintenance workers clean the busiest roads and do other maintenance work on them.
It should be reckoned that maintenance work improves driving conditions as far as possible, but "it is not possible to prevent winter and the typical weather conditions", LVC said.
