On Thursday morning the skies in western Kurzeme region were clearing after a day of battering winds while in the east of the country there is still snowfall.
Temperatures are between -3 C and - 5 C, though a couple of degrees warmer in coastal areas, according to the information of the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.
A strong northern wind is still gusting in most parts of the country, making it feel colder, with windspeeds of 11-17 meters per second (m/s) inland and up to 20 m/s offshore.
As the day progresses it will become sunnier in western and central districts but Vidzeme and Latgale are likely to remain cloudy with further snowfall. Friday is likely to follow a similar pattern and motorists are advised to drive with caution on slippery roads.
