Autumn begins this week in Latvia

This week weather in Latvia will get cooler rapidly and the first autumn frost is expected, according to forecasts by weatherman Toms Bricis.

Monday will be the last time this year when +30 C heat is expected. On the night to Tuesday, there will be rain in many places and thunderstorms in the western and central parts of the country. During the day, there will be more rainfall in the east of the country – Vidzeme and Latgale.

Minimum air temperature at night will be between +13 C to +18 C, but in the day the air temperature will be between +16 C and +21 C, in Latgale up to +23 C.

Starting Wednesday, the afternoon air temperature will be mostly within +12 C to +17 C but the nights will gradually get colder. Frost is expected on Friday and the weekend.

As of Wednesday, August 31, the average daily temperature will fall below +15 C, so the meteorological autumn will begin. Historical data show it will have started about a week later than average.
