Artist Kristiāns Brekte's painting 'Tribute to Džemma Skulme', as reported earlier by LSM, sparked conflict in society, and people even started a signature collection to remove it citing "elements of erotic nature with themes of death, sexuality and possibly Satanism" and "trauma to the psyche of children".
The foundation Mākslai vajag telpu said on Facebook: “We appreciate street art and people's interaction with the urban environment, and now the mural “Tribute for Džemma Skulme” is affected by the hands of the public, as can be seen, particularly addressing one of the characters depicted in the mural.”
The act is considered to be hooliganism, so the foundation intends to turn to the police.
