Textile art symposium coming to Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center

From 6 to 16 November, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center will once again host an international textile and fiber art symposium.

For the fifth time, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center will welcome an international group of textile artists who will draw inspiration from the streets of Daugavpils Fortress, its courtyards, architecture and people to create new artwork which will be publicly exhibited in a group show of symposium participants at the end of a two-week period of intensive creative work.

The 5th International Textile Art Symposium has brought together artists Eiko Hattori (Japan), Yen-Yu Tseng (Taiwan), Päivi Vaarula (Iceland), Moumita Das (India), Magdalena Kleszyńska (Poland), Sauro Manetti (Italy), Alexander Hernandez (the USA/Mexico), Ju Won Lim (South Korea), Kaylie Kaitschuck (the USA), Maria Barthélémy (France), René Sultra (France), and Olga Roehl (Latvia).

The programme of the symposium will feature artist presentations, scheduled for 5 p.m. on 7 November at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center, and Taiwanese artist Yen-Yu Tseng’s master class “Action Figure in Textile” at 3 p.m. on 13 November.
