Daria Kalashnikova, a Ukrainian artist who has quickly made a splash in the Latvian contemporary arts, will unveil a new solo exhibition on October 3.

Titled "The Trait of Tireless Freedom", the exhibition will be open at the European House in Riga (Aspazijas bulvāris 28) until October 14.

Her conceptual visual art works devoted to the ongoing war in Ukraine were selected in 2022 for the Biennale in North Macedonia and the online gallery Brave.ua

Daria studied performance directing and scriptwriting in Denmark and is currently touring EU countries with the performance "How long can this all last?" as previously reported by LSM. As well as a performance in Rīga, the piece was performed on the eve of the Independence Day of Ukraine, at the National Art Museum in Kaunas, Lithuania - a European Capital of Culture in 2022.

The video version of the performance was selected for the exhibition 'Bravery. Made in Ukraine' held in Kyiv in September 2022 and it is this that will be shown at the exhibition in the EU House in Riga.

As well as her performance art, Daria writes prose and poetry. Her essay 'The grain of sand' was published in Latvia's Punctum literary magazine.
