The second weekend of the year has arrived, and we offer some handy tips on how to spend it.

Fire Cafe Opening

Those looking for the latest buzz will be delighted to find that on Saturday, January 13, a Fire Cafe (Uguns Cafe) is opening in Rīga, Tērbatas Street 46. The opening event promises burger speed-eating competition, beer chug contest, hot wings challenge, a lottery, and a lot of fire.

The place will be open starting 11:00 but the competitions will begin at 18:00.

Arvo Pärt and Veljo Tormis: Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir

Arvo Pärt and Veljo Tormis are cornerstones of Estonian music. Pärt's sacral and Veljo's folklore world will be united by Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir in a performance on January 13, 18:00, at the Liepāja Concert Hall "Great Amber" (Liepāja, Radio Street 8).

'Cosmic Eggs of the Earth'

From Januatry 5 to February 3, at the Kalnciema Square Gallery (Kalnciema Street 35, Rīga), ceramic artist Evija Vītola's personal exhibition "Own Folk/Cosmic Eggs of the Earth" will be exhibited. 

The exhibition promises a story "not only about vases but about the creative process and touch, formation, observation, merging with a Here and Now state".

The gallery is open on weekdays 10:00–18:00 and Saturdays 10:00-16:00.
