Three for the Weekend: Fish, Orchestra, Charity

For this weekend, we offer a selection of formal and less formal events in different cities of Latvia, bringing cultural enjoyment and a good time.

Vimba Festival in Bauska

Bauska is one of Latvia's hotspots for fishing the vimba bream (Vimba vimba), so on April 20, the sixth Vimba Fishing Festival will take place in the city.

Experienced fishers will compete in vimba fishing from the morning until the afternoon, but visitors will be able to enjoy several concerts and performances, educational activities aimed at water ecology, games for children and youth, markets, and, of course, some delicious fish.

The events will begin around 11:00 at the River Mūsa on Krasta Street nearby the stadium. Attendance is free.

Flute and Dvořák in Liepāja

On April 20, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra invites everyone to a concert where flute will intertwine with Antonín Dvořák's symphony. The program will also include the Concerto for flute and orchestra by the Ukrainian-born Latvian composer Marina Gribinčika and Stanislaw Moniuszko's overture to the opera “Halka”.

The concert begins at 18:00 at the Great Amber concert hall of Liepāja.
