Charity concert raises EUR 37,000 for storm-damaged Jaunpils castle

On Wednesday, August 23, the charity concert “Music Against the Storm” donated EUR 37,246.21 to the renovation of the Jaunpils Castle, the Church of Jaunpils, and some homes. The number of visitors to the concert exceeded 5 thousand, which is the most ambitious turnout witnessed in the castle, representatives said.

The concert lasted five hours, and as the artists indicated, the atmosphere prevailing at the storm's ruined base of the castle – the full, illuminated roof of the castle – created a particularly magical, emotional pleasure and satisfaction both in speaking and being together.

On August 7, there was a thunderstorm in Latvia, with wind gusts, rains, and hail. The storm initially touched Kurzeme and the central part of the country, causing particularly serious damage in Dobele municipality, in the evening it moved to the eastern part of Latvia.

The Jaunpils Castle was closed after the devastation of large-scale hail. The roof of the cultural monument has suffered greatly in the natural disaster.
