Three for the weekend: Legends, exhibitions, performances

While the weather forecast for the upcoming weekend may not be the best, staying snuggled up in a warm bed for 48 hours will not be tolerated. So here are three things to motivate you in the direction of outside.

Night of Legends

Latvia's numerous castles, palaces and manor houses are the places to go as they throw their doors open for the annual 'Legends Night' event on October 28. This will be the twelfth time Legends Night has taken place. The Association of Castles and Manors organizes the annual showcase. The theme of this year's event is discoveries and will provide an opportunity to discover previously unseen places, unheard stories or unexperienced feelings.

The full list of participating places and details of individual events is available at the official website: https://www.pilis.lv/lv/

A day at the library

You needn't necessarily be a bookworm to enjoy a trip to the Latvian National Library, as it it is currently offering various different exhibitions suitable for different ages and tastes. These include the last few days of a Raimonds Pauls retrospective, an exhibition of the works of Spanish illustrator Paco Roca, a celebration of poets Imants Ziedonis and Ojārs Vācietis, and insights into Ukrainian history.

Dance and bubbles in Rēzekne

It's a busy weekend at the GORS cultural center in Rēzekne this weekend. Saturday sees what promises to be a spectacular multimedia performance by Italy's Evolution Dance Theater titled 'Blu Infinito' (see video above), while Sunday brings the Mystery Bubbles magic and laser show (see video below).
