Three Exhibitions for the Weekend in Latvia

For this weekend, we offer three exhibitions worth visiting to cater to your cultural cravings.

Declaration of Independence

On Friday, March 31, 20:00, the opening of a multimedia exhibition "Declaration of Independence" by artist Daniela Vētra takes place at the Rīga Art Space (Kungu Street 3).

"Declaration of Independence is a manifesto of artistic and reproductive freedom, which, in the synergy of installation, drama, performative action, video, vocal and sound art, ruthlessly explores the relationship between labor and violence at a time when conservative populism poses a global threat to the physical autonomy and reproductive rights of women," says the exhibition's description.

The exhibition will be open for visitors until May 21.

Purvītis Award Candidate Exhibition

From April 1 to June 11, the 8th renowned Purvītis' Award candidate works will be on display at the Latvian National Museum of Art. Award nominees are artists whose contribution is deemed valuable in the Latvian art sector in 2022. Purvītis' Award ceremony takes place on May 26.

Children of Siberia

Until April 2, you still have an opportunity to visit the Jūrmala Museum (Tirgoņu Street 29) for an express exhibition 'Children of Siberia' at the time March 25 deportations are remembered in Latvia. The exhibition contains real stories, memories, and unique photographs from the WWII repressed.
