Add your old photos to the Centenary Album

Take note – story published 6 years ago

The Latvian National History museum has set up a website to create a joint photo album marking Latvia's centenary, reports Latvian Radio November 14.

Next May the National History Museum, with about 60 other Latvian museums, will unveil the greatest co-exhibition in Latvian history.

Titled the Hundred-year Album (Gadsimta albums), the album will consist of Latvian photos submitted at www.latvijasgadsimts.lv. People are invited to add their family photos along with a short description.

"We are trying to encompass the whole of Latvia's hundred-year history, and a little before that, including the first world war. In this project, we invite everyone to submit photos from 1914 to the present day.

"And of course we invite each Latvian resident to add their own story or photography about an event that's important to them, or about a human being, or place that may be important to Latvia's history as well," said Toms Ķikuts, a representative of the National History Museum.

Beloved Latvians like former president Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga and ice hockey goalie Edgars Masaļskis have already submitted their own photos.
