Melbardis’ crew shaved ahead of the second-place Russian and third-place German teams by 0.28 and 0.52 seconds, respectively.
Latvia-2, another team fielded at the Championships, was piloted by Oskars Kibermanis and finished overall in 7th place, 1.24 seconds behind Melbardis.
The Latvia-1 crew was up on the podium at all six of the Bobsleigh World Cup stages, winning three of them, which also keeps them in first place in the World Cup standings at the moment.
