German documentary charts career of Latvian maestro Mariss Jansons

A new German documentary film available to view online charts the life and career of Latvian orchestral conductor Mariss Jansons.

Released to mark his 75th birthday, the 45-minute documentary is produced by the BR-KLASSIK channel and directed by Eckhart Querner. It features numerous stars of the classical music world paying tribute to Jansons, including Anne-Sophie Mutter, Mitsuko Uchida as well as tracing his career from youth in Riga to leading many of the world's greatest orchestras.

The film also contains extensive footage of a recent visit back to his homeland and Jansons recalling how he came to fall in love with the music of Beethoven as a boy.
