While the rest of Latvia is busy praising Rainis turning 150, classical radio station Latvian Radio 3 talked about Arvo Pärt's life and his legacy with a number of people whose lives the composer has touched, including Tiia Teder, the director of Estonia's Classical Radio.
In the interview, Teder talks about Pärt's role in Estonia, and documentaries about the composer. She also describes the events of Arvo Pärt Days in Estonia, in particular the Nargenfestival.
Describing Pärt's music, Teder said that, in today's messy world, Pärt's "message of peace in Adam's Lament is very needed right now".
On September 26, the world-famous Adam's Lament will be performed at the Riga Dome Cathedral with Tõnu Kaljuste as the conductor.
