International artists performing at the festival include The Fall, who don't need an introduction, as well as Ngoma Africa Band, Nucleus Roots (Germany), Subhumans (The United Kingdom), and The Angelcy (Israel). Last year, about 10,000 visitors flocked to the festival.
The organizers call Laba daba "a summer festival which is always characterized by a welcoming attitude towards people, events and nature". You can read a lot into that, actually, but an educated guess would be that Laba daba is a little bit of a hippie gathering.
Besides music - of which Latvian acts such as The Sound Poets, The Pink Elephant, Dzelzs Vilks, Auļi and Pienvedēja Piedzīvojumi just might tickle your fancy - numerous workshops and sideline activities will keep you busy and entertained.
Get a henna tattoo, have your bust cast in alabaster, see the world from a camera obscura rickshaw - or attend one of the four marriages to be held in the festival - these are all very real things you can do in the rather ethereal festival of Laba daba.
