These films reflect the extraordinary lives of people in Latvia and each year serve as a blueprint of the state of affairs in the private lives and aspirations of today's Latvian residents.
This year's fourth film to be featured, titled Our Old Man, chronicles twin brothers Jaroslavs and Svjatoslavs searching for their absent father in faraway Russia. Having very few leads, the twin brothers – different in character and interests – are also looking for the ties that have never bound them as closely as they would have liked.
"Despite their close relationship, they still find reasons to nag one another instead of offering support. I understand that the model of their relationship is strange. During this trip, I gave them a shared goal, one which they have never had before in their lives," said director Toms Upītis in an interview with LSM's Elīna Semane.
