Films, directors, actors, operators, and other categories were nominated and awarded, 27 altogether. The main prize - Best Feature Film – went to Janvāris/January, directed by Viesturs Kairišs. Janvāris also received an award in the category Best actor in the main role, which went to Kārlis Arnolds Avots. Altogether Janvāris took home five awards.
Some public attention was drawn by the awarded Best actress in the main role Marija Luīze Meļķe for her role of Laine in the film Neona pavasaris/Neon spring. Meļķe refused to accept the award until the Civil Union Law, which would allow for same-sex families to have legal protection, is adopted. Her role in the film involves a same-sex relationship.
