Take note – story published 2 years ago

From September 24 to 26, Latvia's third-largest city, Liepāja, is the place to head to for Liepāja Art Forum ’21, a celebration of contemporary art discoveries.

Takig place for the seventh time, there will be contemporary music, visual and movement art, as well as two performance premieres for families and three cinematic artworks.

The festival program features artists from Belgium, France, and Latvia, and it is traditionally organized by Concert Hall Great Amber.

“Following nearly two years spent in isolation and on digital platforms, we will seek answers to questions like whether constant communication means true togetherness, or rather loneliness and sadness? Do we truly share in our joys and sorrows? How do we de-isolate? Like anyone else, the team of Concert Hall Great Amber and the Liepāja Art Forum continue looking for creative ways and forms to meet and be together with their audience. The festival is one such opportunity that we will gladly use!

"We have created a celebration of contemporary art discoveries, this year taking place not only in our amazing concert hall, but in four different locations in the city as well.  Let us come together in our deisolation!” said Baiba Bartkeviča, Artistic Director of Concert Hall Great Amber, who has been creating the festival program for 5 years.

Several events have been prepared for children and parents. Introducing viewers to the documentary dance method, choreographer, dancer and director Kristīne Brīniņa will offer her new dance performance Trajectories of Childhood and movement class MOveMENT. The performance Trajectories of Childhood is all about the courage to overcome fear and doubt, mutual trust between generations and the desire to listen and to be heard. In order to preserve the documentary nature of the performance, parents have learnt the movements, thoughts expressed and situations created by their children.
