Imants Lancmanis' new artwork
Since November last year, the Imants Lancmanis exhibit at the Latvian National Museum of Art (Jaņa Rozentāla Square 1) has contained two empty frames. On February 17, 15:00, the frames will finally be filled with new artwork themed "Dance of Death", and visitors are invited to partake in the ceremony. The new pieces and rest of the exhibit will be available until February 26.
A Million Candles
Until February 28, an exhibit "A Million Candles" is on display at the culture and recreation center Imanta. The association Latvian Movement for Independent Living began a campaign in autumn of 2019 selling candles and hosting events to raise funds for a group home project for young people with severe functional impairments. The exhibit shows how far they have come and what their aims are.
Entrance is free. The exhibition is open every day 10:00 to 20:00.
Henry the Great
For families with children and fans of the Latvian somewhat patriotic animation film Lielais Indriķis (Henry the Great), the Latvian National Library hosts an exhibition with over 150 puppets and other props used in the film by the well-known animation studio Avārijas Brigāde. The film is also still on at cinemas (in Latvian).
The exhibition will be open until April 29.
